The Minister of Finance informs all vehicle and motorcycle owners that the second nationwide campaign to control the payment of the automobile stamp duty for the 2019 fiscal year shall be organized with effect from the 1st to the 31st of July 2019. In the course of this exercise, vehicle owners shall be required to show proof of the effective payment of the automobile stamp duty to the controllers by presenting a valid insurance attestation.
The Minister of Finance recalls that pursuant to the provisions of section 598 of the General Tax Code, the said duty is exclusively collected by insurance companies alongside the subscription or renewal of the civil liability insurance policy.
Vehicle and motorcycle owners who are yet to meet up with the payment of their civil liability insurance policy, which equally entails non-compliance to the automobile stamp duty for the 2019 fiscal year, are called upon to regularize their situations at the level of their respective insurance companies.
Failure to act as such would entail liability to the sanctions provided for by the legislation in force, notably the application of a 100 % fine, a criminal fine and the impoundment of their vehicles.
The Minister of Finance counts on the compliance of all parties involved.
