FOREWORD

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is pleased to present the eighteenth edition of the Statistical Yearbook of Agriculture, for the year 2022 (AGRISTAT No. 18).

This new edition, the 18th of its kind, comes in a context marked, on the one hand, by the recent adoption of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (NDS30), which is Cameroon's new reference framework for its development action during the current 2020-2030 decade, and specifically at the sectoral level through the implementation of the Rural Sector Development Strategy and, on the other hand, by the application of Law No. 2020/010 of 20 July 2020 to regulate statistical activity in Cameroon.

AGRISTAT is a collection of information produced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER), the institution in charge of developing, implementing and evaluating government policy in the areas of agriculture and rural development. This tool provides information on trends in agricultural production, trends in cultivated surface areas, price fluctuations, use of inputs, and the volume of imports and exports of agricultural products.

This edition of the statistical yearbook of agriculture results from cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), under the Global Plan for Public Finance Management Reform 2019-2021, led by the Budget Reform Division of the Ministry of Finance. The National Statistical System through the NIS was allocated a budget for the year 2021 to support certain ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the design of their statistical yearbooks.

This publication is the result of a consultative process, involving both the central and devolved bodies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and external opinions from users and producers of statistical data with new relevant needs. The themes addressed have been updated to take into account the needs of the various users and producers of data from the agriculture and rural development sub-sector, both at national and international level.
