PRESS RELEASE

The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of Academic Orders, Professor Jacques FAME NDONGO, granted an audience to Mr Zhao Zongzhi, Cameroon General Manager of China First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. (CFHEC), on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The meeting is coming after the signing, on 13 January 2026, of the framework partnership agreement between MINESUP and CFHEC, aimed at enhancing the employability of Higher Education graduates through the training and certification of the professional competencies of Higher Education students in the field of major infrastructure.

As part of the effective implementation of this agreement, the Cameroon General Manager of CFHEC announced to the Minister of State the launching from August 2026, of the first cohort of students to benefit from this professional immersion programme on CFHEC construction sites in Cameroon. Based on the "Dual Qualification" model, which complements a University certificate with an internationally recognised professional diploma awarded by CFHEC, the initiative enables students and recent graduates to become immediately job-ready. This objective is achieved through immersive workplace learning based on the 70/20/10 model: 70% hands-on practical training on construction sites, 20% mentoring, and 10% theoretical instruction.

Through this socially responsible partnership with MINESUP, CFHEC, a global infrastructure leader employing more than 25,000 people and operating in over 20 countries, with flagship projects in Cameroon including Phase I of the Yaoundé-Douala Motorway and the Yaoundé-Nsimalen Motorway reaffirms its commitment to developing human capital and training a highly skilled national workforce essential for the implementation of Cameroon's major structural projects and those of the sub-region.
