An important meeting of the Technical Committee of the special operation prescribed by the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, for the recruitment of teachers, holders of a doctorate/PhD degree or any other equivalent diploma was held today in the conference room of the Ministry of Higher Education, under the chairmanship of the Minister of State, Minister in charge of this Ministerial Department, in the presence of the Rectors and Vice-Chancellors of State Universities and close collaborators of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education.
The following points emerged from this working session:
1- Special recruitment of 2000 teachers holding a doctorate/PhD degree or an equivalent diploma aged, at most, 45 years. The Minister, Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Office, Professor Séraphin-Magloire Fouda, will soon chair a meeting of the Central Supervisory Commission for the Special Recruitment mentioned above, towards the imminent launching of the 2nd phase of the said special operation (for 2020) after the first phase which ended with the recruitment of 1,237 teachers, holders of a doctorate or PhD degree. Applicants fulfilling the required academic conditions will therefore be able to submit their applications to the University authorities of their choice, one University and one establishment or school per candidate.
2- The 1237 candidates who were recruited at the end of the first phase are authorized to take up service as from January 2, 2020 with their home Universities, by presenting the duly authenticated originals of their diplomas (doctorate, PhD degree or any other equivalent diploma).
3- Applicants over the age of 45 years may submit their applications to State Universities for the numerical replacement of teachers who have died, been dismissed, have resigned or who have abandoned their pedagogic
services. They will have to respect the classic procedure linked to recruitment in State Universities of Cameroon after the imminent opening of positions by Rectors and Vice-Chancellors, in order to preserve the scientific excellence and the academic rigor which characterizes the Cameroonian University System and consolidate its well-established reputation around the world.
4- Also, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education brought to the attention of the Rectors and Vice-Chancellors two pieces of information worthy of interest: the start of the academic year for the Inter-State Congo-Cameroon University, Sangmélima campus which will take place on Monday January 13, 2020 at 8am; the African Virtual University placed under the umbrella of the African Union which the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, officially launched on December 20, 2019 in Yaoundé, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Head of Government representing the Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, will officially start its digital activities on January 15, 2020 in Yaoundé at the seat of the Rectorate of the Pan African University.
