INVITATION TO THE 73rd ORDINARY SESSION OF THE AFRICAN COMMISSION 20th OCTOBER TO 9th NOVEMBER 2022
I have the honour to inform all National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) that the 73rd Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (the Commission), would take place in Banjul, The Gambia, from 20th October to 9th November 2022, and that they are invited to participate in the Public Session scheduled to be held from 21 – 30 October 2022 (in person) and the Closing Ceremony (virtual) on 9 November 2022.
As usual, NHRIs are expected to bear the travel and accommodation expenses relating to the participation of their representative(s).
The Preliminary Registration Form is available at the website of the Commission: http://www.achpr.org and should be completed and returned to the Secretariat, together with the copy of the Bio page of the Passport of each participant from your organisation not later than 30th September 2022.
Representatives coming from countries which require entry visa to The Gambia are advised to obtain visas before travelling to The Gambia. For those who do not have Embassies or diplomatic representation of The Gambia in their countries of residence, measures shall be taken by the Host Government to facilitate the issuance of visas upon arrival in The Gambia, provided they have submitted their Registration forms and scanned copies of their Passport bio data pages to the Secretariat of the Commission as requested.
The Information Note and Draft Agenda of the Public Session will be posted on the website of the Commission in due course.
Representatives are also advised to take the necessary vaccinations, and to travel with their vaccination cards, including COVID-19, if required by the host or receiving country.
NHRIs wishing to speak on any of the Agenda Items are strictly required to register with the Secretariat of the Commission in advance, and also to send copies of the statement they wish to present, to the Secretariat on or before 30 September 2022. This is a pre-requisite for being granted permission to speak during the Sessions.
