As the 50th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers draws to a close in Yaounde, I am pleased to take the floor once again to express my sincere thanks and congratulations to you all, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Cameroon and the Cameroonian people, for the quality and depth of the exchanges that have taken place during your deliberations.
Allow me, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, to pay tribute to the General Secretariat of the OIC, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gambia, Mauritania and Palestine. Their contributions, amid many challenges, have made it possible for the higher interest of our common Organization to prevail and for this 50th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to be held under good conditions.
At the end of our deliberations, in a spirit of mutual understanding and active solidarity, and in view of the content of the resolutions adopted in the political, economic, social, cultural and technical fields, we can state that significant steps have been taken to increase the influence of our common Organisation.
Cameroon's chair of the OIC will provide an opportunity to strengthen our joint efforts to achieve OIC's objectives. It will represent our organization and defend its interests with our various partners and in other international fora, especially the United Nations.
