REPORT OF THE JOINT BAR COUNCIL SESSION OF JULY 24, 2023 A YAOUNDÉ
The Cameroon Bar Council met in an ordinary session on July 24, 2023, at its headquarters in Yaoundé, under the chairmanship of the Bar President, MBAH Eric MBAH.
Eleven (11) members participated during the session, to wit:

The agenda was composed of the following:
Point 1 - Opening remarks by the Bar President; Point 2 - Adoption of the minutes of the previous Bar session; Point 3 - Presentation of reports under disciplinary investigation; Point 4 - Examination of non-disciplinary reports; Point 5 - Examination of disciplinary files.
In his opening remarks, the Bar President informed the Bar Council members of his meeting with the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent ESSO, and the points on which their discussions were focused.
With regard to the General Assembly of the Bar, he stated that the Bar Council would have to evaluate it to ascertain why quorum was not attained at the last session, in order to remedy the situation at the next General Assembly.
The Bar President then appreciated his Representative for the Centre-South and East Regions for the appeasement she had succeeded in bringing to the family of a bereaved colleague. He also spoke about the organization of the Lawyers' Week in the Centre, Adamaoua and Far North Regions.
All other items on the administrative session of the agenda were deferred.
On the disciplinary session, 683 disciplinary cases were recored; 500 were called after investigation and examination:
- 121 decisions were adjourned
- 251 cases were adjourned for decisions
- 127 decisions to discontinue proceedings were handed down
- 01 call to order issued
The session ended on July 25, 2023 at 1:04 a.m.
The next Joint session of the Bar Council is scheduled for September 19, 2023.
