The Minister of Finance informs road users that a campaign to control the payment of the automobile stamp duty will be organised throughout the national territory as from november 22, 2021.
For reminder purposes, per the provisions of section 598 of the General Tax Code, the automobile stamp duty is paid to insurance companies during the subscription or renewal of the civil liability insurance policy.
The Minister of Finance, therefore, invites road users who are yet to pay their civil liability insurance policies and are consequently non-compliant with the automobile stamp duty for the 2021 fiscal year, to contact their insurance companies without delay to regularise their situation.
Failure to do so will result in a 100% tax penalty, a criminal fine and the impoundment of their vehicle during control campaign, under the provisions of section 601 and 602 of the General Tax Code.
Besides, the Minister of Finance recalls that bike riders are not concerned by this campaign bearing in mind that with the entry into force of the 2020 finance law, their automobile stamp duty is now paid when they purchase their bikes.
