RADIO-PRESS-RELEASE
The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Chancellor of Academic Orders has been informed that some digital platforms are reporting that the African Institute of Computer Science (IAI)-Cameroon is not recognized by the Cameroonian Ministry of Higher Education.
He wishes to inform the public, and more specifically the academic community and all bodies responsible for the assessment and award of academic equivalences that this information is wrong. Indeed, IAI-Cameroon is fully recognized by the State of Cameroon, pursuant to the Convention of 29 January 1971 establishing the institute, which was signed and ratified by the Republic of Cameroon, as well as in accordance of the Headquarters Agreement of 29 May 2001, and Law No. 2023/007 of 25 July 2023 on the Higher Education Policy in Cameroon (articles 68 to 76). Consequently, IAI-Cameroon is among the institutions duly authorised to provide Higher Education training in Cameroon. This institute is a branch of the African Institute of Computer Science (IAI), whose headquarter is located in Libreville, Gabon, and which operates under the supervision of the Gabonese Ministry in charge of the Digital Economy.
In addition, the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education wishes to provide the following clarifications:
- - that IAI-Cameroon Certificate is signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IAI (Libreville), co-signed by the Director General and the Resident Representative of the IAI-Cameroon;
- that for the said certificate to be valid in Cameroon, it must undergo the academic equivalence procedure, either through referral to the Headquarters or through the Cameroon Representation, in accordance with the applicable procedures;
- - that IAI-Cameroon Attestation of Success is signed by the Resident Representative and possibly the Academic Director of IAI-Cameroon;
- that for the Certificates to be valid in Cameroon, it must be submitted for academic equivalence after authentication by the Headquarter in Libreville.
The Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, welcomes the excellent working relationship between the Ministry of Higher Education and the African Institute of Computer Science in general, and IAI-Cameroon in particular. He expresses his confidence in the continued strengthening of these relations through effective academic support and a partnership based approach involving State Universities of Cameroon.
