Distinguished Members of the Supreme Court; The Inspector General of Judicial Services; The Inspector General of Penitentiary Administration; Technical Advisers; Directors; Division Heads; Unit Heads; The Representative of the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedom; The Representatives of Public Services; The Representatives of Civil Society; The Participants at the Validation Workshop of the Report of the Ministry of Justice on Human Rights in Cameroon in 2016; Distinguished guests; Ladies and gentlemen;
It is a great pleasure for me to take the floor today on behalf of His Excellency The Minister of State, Minister of Justice Keeper of the Seals to welcome you to the Conference hall of the Ministry of Justice, on the occasion of the opening of the Validation Workshop of the Report of the Ministry of Justice on Human Rights in Cameroon in 2016.
As you are aware, the Report of the Ministry of Justice on Human Rights is a retrospective analysis of the situation of Human Rights within a given year. It identifies progress made and challenges encountered in the promotion and protection of Human Rights.
Permit me to take this opportunity to thank you, Experts, for your availability and dedication to assess efforts made by Government and various stakeholders to ensure the promotion and protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
You have been invited to participate actively in these deliberations in a bid to improve and enrich the Report through a critical and constructive analysis, during exchanges that I hope will be fruitful and convivial. I have no doubt that your relevant and reliable contributions during the deliberations will enhance the quality of the Report and improve readers' awareness on useful information, positive changes that marked Human Rights in 2016 as well as challenges.

Ce projet de Rapport a maintenu son architecture en 03 parties consacrées aux droits civils et politiques, aux droits économiques, sociaux et culturels et au droit à un environnement sain, aux questions transversales et aux droits catégoriels.

La première partie, précédée d'un Chapitre préliminaire qui rend compte de la coopération entre le Cameroun et les Organes de surveillance de l'application des Conventions de Droits de l'Homme, comprend 04 chapitres traitant du Droit à la vie, à l'intégrité physique et morale ainsi que celui de ne pas être soumis à la torture, du Droit à un procès équitable, de la liberté d'expression et de communication et du Droit de participer à la gestion des affaires publiques.
