# Agricultural Digitalization
Gabriel Mbaïrobe, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development has described the Agricultural digitalization vision as a national agricultural policy, in Garoua, in prelude to the Africa Agri- Forum scheduled for April, 2021 in Yaounde.
During this occasion, the residence of Minister Mbaïrobe, was transformed for a day into a video conference room, for the Africa Agri Forum event scheduled in Yaoundé on April 5th and 6th 2021. The virtual round table featured, besides the Minader, several experts and Forum partners. Among the personalities present were, Josefa Leonel, Sacko, Commissioner at the African Union in charge of Agriculture, Sustainable Development and the Blue Economy; Loïse Tamalgo, Vice-president of Huawei North Africa in charge of Public Relations, Moulay Lahcen Ennahli, Office chérifien du Phosphate of Africa.
The Africa Agri- Forum being a platform for exchanges and debates working for a strong and sustainable agricultural sector capable of transforming it, ensuring food security and reducing poverty, this videoconference allowed each participant to present their potential and its actions in this direction. According to Minister Gabriel Mbaïrobe, Cameroon is engaged in a project to accelerate the digitization of its agriculture. "Digitization can increase productivity in agriculture and can also improve working conditions by creating jobs in agriculture. This is how we have weather kits in agricultural posts which allow us to anticipate certain disasters," he
stated.
According to the minister, this digitization is also used to set up a cartography of the penology of soils in Cameroon, in order to see which crop is appropriate and which fertilization to use for these crops by production basins. In collaboration with CAMTEL, the MINADER has set up a digital portal called CAMAGRO in order to connect producers and buyers. This portal makes it possible for each basin to determine the availability of agricultural materials. "And we even claim to be able to create an agricultural commodity exchange in Cameroon". The Minister, further announced that in addition, this digitization makes it possible to create jobs with start-ups that use drones not only for phytosanitary and psychopathological monitoring of plantations, but to estimate arable and cultivable areas. Technologies and innovations that the partners expected in Yaoundé in April could support for optimal performance.
