“This sentence alone was enough to awaken our collective consciousness. Since then, it is effervescence in the headquarters of political parties, in the institutions responsible for supervising the electoral process and in the entire social setup. Indeed, the year that begins carries all the expectations and brings to the fore a new political agenda. For the first time since the advent of political pluralism in 1990, the electoral calendar has never aligned so many political appointments: the senatorial, the municipal and legislative elections and the presidential election. It is thus an exceptional election year, even a delicate and decisive turn, in view of the mobilisation and emotions that will punctuate these elections.
President Paul BIYA, from his high posture of Head of State, keystone of our political system and guarantor of the republican order, devoted nearly a third of his message to the nation on December 31, 2017 and his message to the youth on February 10, 2018, to sensitise his fellow citizens on the challenges of this year. By stating that: "All the necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in calm and secure manner", he, in effect, once again emphasizes the unquestionable place that peace and security occupy in all efforts of national construction. Peace is very dear to all those who want to live in "one and indivisible Cameroon". They know how to trust President Paul BIYA, a statesman of exceptional qualities, the wise guardian of these values. Wisdom, foresight, lucidity and relevance in the vision and solutions provided characterize his action since his accession to the highest office. We can readily understand why Cameroonians, of all categories, in the cities and countryside, continue to call on him to stand again as candidate for the next presidential election. For the vast majority of them, President Paul BIYA is, and remains the trump card. They
are therefore unanimous and are ready to renew their confidence in him through the ballot box.
