# Mr Gaston Eloundou Essomba Minister of Water and Energy
> It can't be said enough: water and energy are the basis of the development of a country and the Head of State His Excellency Paul Biya has never missed an opportunity to remind us this truth. Water and energy are indeed the two main vital resources, the ones that make life possible, the good health and wellbeing of citizens; they are, beyond being the key factors of the socio-economic development, strategic resources for any State worthy of the name. > > We are conscious of this reality at the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy; we are conscious of the expectations and especially our responsibilities in other words: produce and offer potable water and energy to the population and to enterprises in quantity and quality and at low cost.
