On the instructions of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph DION NGUTE, informs national and international opinion that the restrictive measures taken by the Head of State on 17 March 2020 to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) in Cameroon, are maintained for a period of fifteen (15) days, renewable if need be.

As a reminder, they are:
- the closure of Cameroon’s land, air and sea borders, with the exception of cargo flights, ships and vehicles transporting daily consumer products and essential goods and materials, whose stopover times will remain limited and controlled;
- the ban on issuing entry visas to Cameroon at the various airports;
- the closure of all public and private training institutions at all levels of education, from nursery school to higher education, including vocational training centres and professional schools;
- the prohibition of gatherings of more than fifty (50) persons throughout the national territory;
- the postponement of school and university sports competitions to a later date;
- the closure, from 6 p.m. onwards, of all bars, restaurants and entertainment spots under the control of administrative authorities;
- the regulation of consumer flows in markets and shopping centres, in accordance with the modalities defined by the Minister of Trade;
- the restriction of urban and interurban travel, which shall be carried out only in case of extreme necessity, and according to the conditions defined by the Minister of Transport;
- the ban on overloading of buses, taxis and motor bikes, under the control of forces of law and order;
- the requisition, as necessary, of private health facilities, hotels and other lodging facilities, vehicles and specific equipment necessary for the implementation of the COVID-19 Pandemic Response Plan in Cameroon, at the request of the competent authorities;
- the use of electronic means of communication and digital tools within public administrations for meetings likely to bring together more than ten (10) people;
- the suspension of missions abroad for members of Government and public and para-public sector officials;
- the wide dissemination by public and private media outlets, as well as social media, of the hygiene measures recommended by the World Health Organization.
The Government calls on the population to continue to observe these restrictive measures with the utmost rigour in order to avoid endangering their own lives and the lives of their relatives.

In any case, administrative and municipal authorities, as well as forces of law and order, will intensify controls on the ground and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the measures prescribed by the Head of State are observed throughout the national territory.-
