# FOREWORD
As part of the activities of the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock (GCAL) instituted by Presidential Decree No. 2015/292 of 29 June 2015, the Government of the Republic of Cameroon is pleased to present Volume 2 of the core module "Enterprise" component which comes more than thirty (30) years after the last of its kind carried out in 1984/1985 whose data are already obsolete. Its objective is to provide the Government and stakeholders in the rural sector with reliable and up-to-date data to meet the planning, monitoring and evaluation needs of initiatives for the development of the agropastoral and aquaculture sub-sectors.
The particularity of the GCAL is that it is carried out according to the modular approach of the World Programme for the Census of Agriculture (WPCA) 2020 recommended by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It consists of a community module, a core module, a complementary module and thematic modules.
The core module is a comprehensive enumeration of all agropastoral farms present in the national territory, and for this purpose it covers a limited range of essential and necessary data according to national priorities.
This limited range of data is useful for the national policy elaboration, international comparisons and the development of sampling frames for the agriculture, livestock and aquaculture subsectors. Within this framework, three statistical units are observed: households, producer organizations and, agropastoral and aquaculture enterprises.
The organization of the GCAL plans to collect first, the data of the "Enterprise" component at the national level and secondly, the data of the "Household" and "Producers' Organization" components. Thus, between November 2018 and February 2019, the data collection operation took place in agropastoral and aquaculture companies throughout the national territory. Following this exercise, the validation and analysis of the data was carried out with the participation of the relevant administrations and institutions, under the auspices of FAO.
This volume provides a better understanding of agropastoral and aquaculture operations of the "Enterprise" type. Nevertheless, it should be noted that some identified enterprises were not collected because of insecurity in the targeted areas.
This second volume of the GCAL includes two (2) books:
- Book 1: the Statistical tables;
- Book 2: the Analysis report.
After the core module "Enterprise" component's achievements, will follow the publications of the other modules.
