COMMUNIQUE RADIO-PRESSE
Le Ministre des Forêts et de la Faune informe l'opinion publique que, dans le cadre de la lutte contre le contre le braconnage et la criminalité faunique, une équipe d'Ecogardes de l'Antenne Sud du Parc National de Mbam et Djerem a procédé, le 24 juin 2026, à l'interpellation de quatre (04) personnes trouvées en possession de quatre (04) colis estimés à plus de 300 kilogrammes contenant des dépouilles d'espèces de faune intégralement protégées.
A l'issue des enquêtes effectuées par les Services de la Conservation du Parc, les suspects ont été déférés devant le Procureur de la République territorialement compétent en vue des suites judiciaires prévues par la loi.
Le Ministre félicite les Ecogrades pour leur vigilance et leur professionnalisme.
Il réaffirme la détermination du Gouvernement à lutter sans relâche contre le braconnage et le trafic illicite des produits de la faune, et invite les populations à collaborer activement avec les services compétents de son département ministériel en dénonçant tout acte susceptible de porter atteinte au patrimoine faunique national.

The Minister of Forestry and Wildlife informs the general public that within the framework of the fight against poaching and wildlife crime, a team of Eco-guards from the Southern part of the Mbam and Djerem National Park, on 24 June 2026, caught four (4) individuals in possession of four (4) consignments of dead fully protected wild animals estimated at more than 300 kilograms.
Following the investigations carried out by the Park Services, the suspects were transferred to the competent State Prosecutor for legal proceedings as prescribed by the law.
The Minister hereby congratulates these Eco-guards on their vigilance and professionalism.
He reaffirms the determination of the Government to pursue the fight against poaching and illegal trafficking of wildlife products, and urges the population to actively collaborate with the competent services of his Ministry by reporting any act that could affect the national wildlife heritage.
