DECREE No. _______________ to extend the term of office of municipal councillors
# THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC,
Mindful of the Constitution;
Mindful of Law No. 2012/001 of 19 April 2012 relating to the Electoral Code, as amended and supplemented by Law No. 2012/017 of 21 December 2012 and Law No. 2026/003 of 11 april 2026;
Mindful of Decree No. 2024/328 of 24 July 2024 to extend the term of office of municipal councillors;
Following consultation with the Government and the Senate Bureau;
Considering the Letter of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, dated 25 march 2026;
Considering the Letter of the President of the Senate, dated 25 march 2026,
# HEREBY DECREES AS FOLLOWS:
ARTICLE 1: The term of office of municipal councillors elected at the poll of 9 February 2020, is extended from 1 June 2026 to 28 February 2027, unless, during the said period, municipal elections are held under the conditions laid down by law.
ARTICLE 2: This decree shall be registered, published according to the procedure of urgency and inserted in the Official Gazette in English and French.
