To lay down conditions for allocating and occupying government accommodation by State personnel serving in Cameroon's Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts abroad
THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC,
Mindful of the Constitution;
Mindful of the Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 18 April 1961;
Mindful of the Convention on Consular Relations of 22 April 1963;
Mindful of Decree No. 2011/408 of 9 December 2011 to organize the Government, as amended and supplemented by Decree No. 2018/190 of 2 March 2018;
Mindful of Decree No. 2024/512 of 30 OCT 2024 to lay down the rules applicable to consular officer salary, travelling expenses and installation allowance of State personnel serving abroad,
HEREBY DECREES AS FOLLOWS:
Article 1: This decree lays down conditions for allocating and occupying government accommodation by State personnel serving in Cameroon's Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts abroad.
Article 2: Heads of Diplomatic Mission and Consular Post shall be entitled to government accommodation.
Article 3: (1) By virtue of their duties, the following persons may be allocated government accommodation within the limits of the available government property pool:
- Ministers Counsellors;
- First Counsellors;
- Second Counsellors;
- First Secretaries;
- Second Secretaries;
- Third Secretaries;
- Embassy Attachés.
(2) Persons ranking as such shall be entitled to government accommodation under the same conditions.

Article 4: (1) A monthly housing allowance calculated as a percentage of the basic index or category salary shall be granted to State personnel serving in Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts who do not have government accommodation, in accordance with the following rates:

(2) The allowance provided for in (1) above shall be paid to each of the spouses where they are both entitled thereto.
Article 5: The personnel referred to in Articles 2 and 3 above shall be housed exclusively in government-owned property or accommodations belonging to the State. They shall be required to vacate such accommodations no later than 3 (three) months following their transfer or removal from office.
Article 6: (1) The personnel referred to in Articles 2 and 3 above shall be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the accommodations they occupy.
(2) The State shall defray the costs of water, electricity, gas, telephone and maintenance of the residences of Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Mission and Ministers Counsellors, as well as of the furniture of the said residences, in accordance with the regulations in force.
